WHEN: Sunday, June 5
12:30 – 3:00 pm
WHERE: Weinberg Building, Ceremonial Lobby
The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center is honored to host National Cancer Survivors Day on Sunday, June 5th.
Patients and their families, along with faculty and staff, are invited to attend this celebration of life. This year’s event will feature inspirational speakers, a Survivor Fashion Show, resources for cancer survivors and their families, children’s activities, music and refreshments. There is something for everyone.
Our Keynote Speaker will be Damon Harris, Cancer Survivor. A Baltimore native, Mr. Harris was the youngest ever member of the Motown supergroup, The Temptations. A three-time Grammy Award winner with 9 Gold recordings, Mr. Harris is not only a vocal sensation but an inspiration as a cancer survivor through his leadership of the Damon Harris Cancer Foundation. Listen to his story and hear him perform.
The Survivor Fashion Show features cancer survivors of various ages and diagnoses, giving each an opportunity to shine, feel beautiful, and to be recognized for all they have been through on their cancer journey. Marianne Kelly of The Image Recovery Center (Weinberg Building) and Sima Blue of Trillium Boutique (Green Spring Station) have partnered with Patient and Family Services to help inspire and support our survivor models on this special day by providing make-up and clothing.
