Two Organizations Raise $2 Million Combined for Pediatric Oncology

This December, Outback Steakhouse and Optimist International both have pledged $1 million dollars for pediatric oncology research at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.

December 10, the Optimist International completed their $ 1 million dollar legacy endowment to childhood cancer research. The Optimists have been "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" since 1919.  Optimists conduct positive service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to youth.  Dr. Eric Schafer is currently the 2009 – 2011  Optimist Fellow.

December 16, Outback Steakhouse representatives formed a human chain to deliver their annual hundreds of holiday toys to pediatric oncology. Outback had pledged $ 1 million dollars, to fund the Pediatric Oncology Outpatient Teen Education and Playroom in the new Children’s Tower and the Outback Steakhouse Cures for Kids  Research Endowment.
