Research Summary

My research objectives focus on the use of statistical genetics to identify genetic factors contributing to risk of chronic diseases. This work constitutes part of the developing field of genetic epidemiology. While I have worked on a wide variety of disease topics (pulmonary disease, diabetes, cancer), I have a long-standing interest in heart disease and birth defects. I have recently developed a research interest in methods to detect genes controlling risk to infectious and parasitic diseases.
