George Netto, M.D.
Titles

Associate Professor, Pathology

Schools\Degrees

M.D., 1985, University of Damascus in Syria.

Training

Residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Baylor University Med. Center, Dallas
Subspecialty training in Oncologic Pathology and Urologic Pathology at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

Certifications

Molecular Genetic Pathology a new pathology discipline focusing on the development of molecular (DNA/RNA) based tests for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

Clinical Interests

Bladder cancer researcher in our team of urologic pathologists

Research Summary

My current research is focused on the evaluation and development of molecular diagnostic applications with potential role in screening, early detection and the investigation of molecular biomarkers that can serve as potential prognosticators and therapeutic targets in the management of urologic malignancies. These studies are facilitated by the construction of Tissue Micro Arrays (representing hundreds of tumor samples on a single slide to be compared side by side). Our studies are supported by several philanthropic and NIH/NCI sponsored grants including a PO1 program award.

Our team currently includes five hard working Urologic Pathology Post Doctoral pathology trained fellows who will also be taking part in this blog. We hope to be keeping you posted on new developments in the field of bladder cancer research.
