Experience and Expertise in Treating Rare Breast Tumors
A diagnosis of breast cancer can be a life-changing event. If that diagnosis is a rare form of cancer, it is especially important to seek care at a medical facility with rare breast tumor-trained specialists and the pathology expertise to determine or confirm a more complex diagnosis.
National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers across the U.S. can provide the kind of expertise and experience necessary to put your mind at ease. The Center for Rare Breast Tumors at Johns Hopkins is one such center and offers the latest in research and treatment to individuals diagnosed with rare forms of breast cancer, accounting for less than one percent of all breast cancers.
Our team has the experience and expertise with these more complex cases and can provide a full consultation at one of our locations. In some cases, a Johns Hopkins physician may be able to review records and provide a treatment recommendation to U.S. residents in certain states through a remote medical second opinion. (Note: Patient charges for remote medical second opinions are self-pay and are not submitted to insurance. Due to regulatory limitations, this service is not available to residents of Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, North Dakota, or New York.)
Our experts in a wide range of disciplines are committed to the holistic care of you and your family through diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. Based on cancer stage, the characteristics of the tumor, as well as your individual needs, lifestyle and expectations, our breast cancer specialists will create a personalized treatment plan that’s right for you. At Johns Hopkins, we’re with you at every step — so you’ll never have to feel alone.
