The Johns Hopkins Hospital, with Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, completed a six-way domino kidney transplant on February 14, 2009. Twelve patients, ages 23 to 70, took part in the historic mixing and matching of incompatible donor-recipient pairs from across the country; one man and five women gave organs to four men and two women. The chain began when an altruistic donor asked the Hopkins team to help her give a kidney to a stranger in need. > Credits | MORE VIDEOS |
