Free Event for Family Caregivers, Wednesday, May 17
Are you providing care for a family member or friend? Has it become too much for you to handle? As a caregiver, you're not alone.
Family caregivers are invited to attend a free workshop, Wednesday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, to learn how to organize a “caregiving family” and realize it’s okay to ask for help. This interactive session will be presented by Rev. Gregory Johnson, senior advisor for family caregiving, EmblemHealth, and Sheila Warnock, founder and president, ShareTheCaregiving, Inc., and co-author, Share The Care.
Rev. Gregory Johnson began his work in family caregiving in 2001 at the invitation of EmblemHealth executives who wanted to bring attention to the “silent patients”–the family caregivers. He continues that mission as the senior advisor for family caregiving in the office of the CEO at EmblemHealth.
Sheila Warnock is a caregiving pioneer and expert on the evidence-informed group caregiving model known as Share The Care™. For more than 20 years, the model has empowered people with a philosophy, systems and step-by-step guide on how to organize friends, family and neighbors into a “caregiving family,” as well as how to maintain that support through thick and thin.
This event will be held in the Richard A. Grossi auditorium (located in the Johns Hopkins Asthma & Allergy Center) on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus (5501 Hopkins Bayview Circle, Baltimore, MD 21224). For more information, please call 410-550-1118.
