![]() | The Department of Human Resources is dedicated to its many partnerships with the community to develop its incumbent workers and future members of the workforce. Through Project R.E.A.C.H./Community Education Programs Hopkins is able to carry out this commitment to its partnerships. REACH/CEP Staff offer dynamic educational and skills training programs to help departments strengthen their workforce and address the ever-growing concern of workforce shortages. These programs strive to empower current employees, youth and residents of the greater Baltimore communities, specifically East Baltimore. Program participants learn and develop skills necessary to help them succeed in the workplace and in an increasingly competitive society. An Overview Employee Education & Training Programs Our programs support current employees who may be preparing for career advancement opportunities in any healthcare shortage occupations. We also partner with Hopkins departments and community organizations to offer a broad range of courses from GED and college preparation to medical terminology and computer basics. Many of our programs are supported through partnership with local government, community-based organizations and community colleges. Community Programs Our office is committed to serving Baltimore, particularly the East Baltimore community, through workforce development and educational programs. One segment of the community we serve is youth by providing access and exposure to careers in healthcare. In addition, we provide a variety of support in their academic pursuits with a focus on promoting post-secondary education and/or employment opportunities. This support includes, but is not limited to: mentoring, internships, scholarships, job shadowing, lectures, and tours of the Johns Hopkins facilities. Another segment of the community served is adults. The primary focus of the support provided to this group is training opportunities that will lead to employment within the Health System. The training's may range from classroom courses to on-the-job training programs. Staff of Project R.E.A.C.H./Community Education Programs is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
