Employees Will See Higher Costs Beginning in 2013
Beginning in 2013, health care costs for non-represented employees of The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation will increase as we begin a two-year shift from paying 100 percent for most services to a “90/10” (co-insurance) plan for certain services provided outside of Johns Hopkins.
The goals of the changes are to improve the health of Hopkins employees and to strengthen our member institutions. All preventive care services will continue to be fully covered within the EHP Network and at Johns Hopkins-owned hospitals, as we strive to help employees remain healthy. Our institutions will benefit as employees are encouraged to obtain care from Johns Hopkins facilities and providers, keeping health care dollars within the system.
To ease the transition and allow time to improve employee access to Hopkins providers, changes will be phased in over two years.
Those affected include non-represented employees of The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation, and all employees at Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Johns Hopkins HealthCare, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, Johns Hopkins Medicine International and Johns Hopkins Intrastaff.
