J1 Resources

Helpful Information

It is JHMI policy for all new Postdoctoral Research Fellows, Research Trainees, and Non-tenure track Faculty members to be issued DS-2019s for J1 status.*

It is the responsibility of the Exchange Visitor to carefully review the Incoming Student & Scholar Packet. As an Exchange Visitor, you have a responsibility to follow the regulations that govern your J-1 non-immigrant status. This page has been designed to ensure you receive the necessary pre-arrival and orientation information regarding your status. Each Exchange Visitor must review the J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa Category page and thoughtfully consider their obligations. The information provided on the OIS website is meant to complement the orientation that will be provided to you by your sponsoring School when you arrive in the U.S.
