Elizabeth von Kessler, B.S.N., M.S.
Director of Clinical and Nursing Affairs
Elizabeth von Kessler has been with Johns Hopkins Medicine since 1997. She is responsible for leading Johns Hopkins Medicine International’s overseas affiliates in the development of clinical and other products, building strong quality and safety programs, achieving Joint Commission International accreditation, developing performance improvement programs, and providing nursing leadership development and support.
Ms. von Kessler has also served as Director of Clinical Programs and Performance Improvement, responsible for developing the performance profile and performance improvement program for Johns Hopkins Medicine International and its affiliates, developing the care management system for international patients who come to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore (USA), as well as assisting in the development of a customer relationship marketing program for internal and external markets.
From 2000 to 2002, she served as Director of Global Access, responsible for the design and development of Johns Hopkins Medicine International’s telemedicine system for remote medical second opinions and the scheduling system for all international patients coming to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
Upon joining Johns Hopkins Medicine in 1997, Mrs. von Kessler served as Project Administrator for the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center and the Vice President of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and as Director of Patient and Visitor Services at The Johns Hopkins Hospital including patient relations, social work and volunteer services. From 1983 to 1997, she served as Vice President of Patient Services at the New Children’s Hospital in Baltimore (USA).
Mrs. von Kessler’s professional nursing experience includes Nurse Manager of the pediatric unit (including responsibility for nursing and clinical services staff education) at New Children’s Hospital and Clinical Nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
In addition to her current work serving Johns Hopkins Medicine International’s affiliates in North America, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe, Mrs. von Kessler has also provided consulting in administration and nursing to hospitals in Indonesia and Pakistan, and served as a visiting professor, in Xian, China.
