R. Christian Banghart Evensen
R(olf) Christian “Chris” Banghart Evensen is the Founding/Managing Partner of Canyon Partners in Beverly Hills, Calif. Canyon Partners is a leading alternative asset manager providing investment advice to institutional clients and high net worth individuals globally. Canyon and its affiliates including Canyon Capital Advisors, Canyon Capital Realty Advisors, ICE Canyon International Credit Explorer Strategies and Black Canyon Capital currently manage investment partnerships with a staff of over 200. Canyon was founded in 1990, is headquartered in Los Angeles, Calif., and has been an SEC registered investment advisor since 1994. Mr. Evensen is also a partner of Flintridge Capital Investments and of Flintridge Capital Technologies.
Mr. Evensen has spent the majority of his career structuring corporate and real estate investments. He has been involved in more than 164 real estate transactions, including the acquisition, development and construction of commercial and industrial properties, and the origination and purchase of commercial properties. Prior to the formation of Canyon Partners in 1990, Mr. Evensen was a Senior Vice President of the High Yield Bond Department of Drexel Burnham Lambert, and Director of the International Markets Group, responsible for the high yield senior debt and international markets activities of the firm. Prior to 1986, Mr. Evensen worked in the Currency and Interest Rate Swap Group of Merrill Lynch, and several commercial banks where he structured derivatives products.
Mr. Evensen is the Director of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, a Trustee of the Chandler School in Pasadena, Calif., and the Director of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Mr. Evensen has been a Johns Hopkins Medicine Trustee since July of 2006.
