Health care-associated infections and complications take a huge toll—lives lost, recoveries delayed, and hospital resources squandered. But they don’t have to. Many of these cases are entirely preventable if care teams follow proven, evidence-based practices.
The challenge is that the health care field has traditionally done a poor job of translating this evidence to the bedside. Getting caregivers to reliably follow these measures is complex work, requiring workplace culture change, engaged leaders and new tools, such as checklists.
At the Center for Innovation, we are experts in helping hospitals to bring about drastic improvements in such areas as central line-associated bloodstream infections, surgical site infections and deep vein thrombosis. We have also developed a program for improving hand-hygiene that has already led to reduced transmission of two drug-resistant pathogens.
We’re eager to share this expertise with other hospitals. Learn about our training and consulting opportunities in these areas.
