Financial support for basic research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine comes from many sources, including foundations, individuals and the federal government. Donations from individuals or foundations earmarked for IBBS can support travel for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to present their work at scientific meetings, the purchase of equipment and instruments critical for investigators' research, summer laboratory experiences for high school or undergraduate students, entire research programs and endowed chairs.
