Over the past 18 months, the Human Resources departments across the health system have worked together towards the goal of centralization of some HR functions. With centralization, our goal is to realign our resources and focus on existing critical functions, while freeing up time to concentrate on strategic initiatives across the system. The Johns Hopkins Health System Human Resources central office completed their move to Eastern High School in May, which started the first phase of the realignment of Human Resources services across the entire Health System. In July, Senior Directors were appointed to create and lead central offices for benefits, compensation and recruitment.
For recruitment, many centralization activities took place even before the official creation of the central recruitment services office. Over the past year, the affiliates have transitioned to a new background check vendor, collaborated on a common employment application, and are all using the same recruitment advertising vendor. However, there is much work on the horizon for central recruitment services.
One of our next initiatives will be the implementation of SuccessFactors Recruitment Management, a new recruitment/applicant tracking portal. Beginning in January 2014, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Health System, Bayview Medical Center, Suburban Hospital, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, Johns Hopkins International, Johns Hopkins Health Care and Johns Hopkins Home Care will transition to SuccessFactors Recruiting. Benefits of this initiative are as follows:
- Applicants will visit a central portal to search and apply for all jobs in the Health System instead of visiting each individual website.
- Candidates will be able to check on their application status by logging into the recruitment portal.
- The Human Resource central recruitment team will be able to view and screen applications across the health system.
- Managers will be able to utilize the system to effectively create and track job requisitions and efficiently process candidates as they move through the recruitment process.
Over the next several weeks, be on the lookout for exciting new updates regarding SuccessFactors Recruiting. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to contact Michele Sedney, Sr. Director of Central Recruitment, email@example.com.
