Medical plans (which include prescription and vision) are administered by Johns Hopkins Employer Health Programs (EHP), an insurance company that is widely accepted by hospitals and health care providers both regionally and nationwide.
Employees may choose to opt out of receiving medical coverage. Every October we offer an open enrollment period where you can switch plans, add or remove family members, or opt in or out of coverage.

The EHP medical plans offer you the security of a wide range of health care benefits, including coverage for inpatient and outpatient hospital care, medical and surgical services, prescription drugs, vision care and mental health and substance abuse services.
These plans also offer vital preventive care benefits that aren’t usually provided under traditional health care options—including coverage for routine physicals; well-woman care, including Pap tests and mammograms; and well-child care, including immunizations and check-ups.
Cost of health coverage varies based on your employment status, whether you are a represented or non-represented employee, and whether you are a smoker. For pricing information, download your Guide to Benefits.
EHP provides members with a national network of doctors, hospitals and ancillary providers in all 50 states. The MultiPlan PHCS Healthy Directions Network is a great benefit for employees living outside of Maryland, or who have children attending college out of state. It's also helpful when you're traveling. Your EHP benefits remain the same when you use a provider from the network.
