The goal of Health, Safety & Environment is to promote the
health and productivity of employees of the Johns Hopkins
Institutions by the prevention and management of occupational and
environmental injuries, illnesses and disabilities.

Evaluate performance of Johns Hopkins Institution in reducing
occupational injury and illness frequency and customary costs
associated with injuries and illnesses of conditions in less than
optimal environments. Assure compliance with all applicable health,
safety and environmental laws by Johns Hopkins. Monitor compliance
with all health, safety and environmental regulations affecting the
Johns Hopkins Hospital and University. Assess the performance of
Johns Hopkins Hospital and University in preventing and treating
occupational injuries and illnesses. If performance decrements exist
in any activity, facilitate the correction of all deficiencies.
Analyze trends in safety performance and report observations to the
Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins University Boards of
Directors (quarterly and annually).
