Welcome to the Johns Hopkins Medicine online fire safety and hazard communication training.

Logging into the course: |
- Begin by opening your web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Netscape) and type in http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/hse/fire in the address line.

Click on the link for "Fire Safety and Hazard Communication Online Training"

Enter your JHED ID and password. These are the same as your regular login and password that you use for your computer and e-mail.

Click the "Login" button.
If you receive the error message: "You have successfully logged in with your JHED ID and Password. However, we are unable to register you into hse_firesafety_ongoing. Please try back in one working day." Then you are not in the WebCT database. Please email safetytraining@jhu.edu to alert our staff of this problem. You will be manually entered into the system. This process typically takes about one business day.

Click on the link for "Fire Safety and Hazard Communication." This will bring up the Course Homepage.

Icons: there are three (3) icons for the main course:

Course Content
contains the online course material.

Quiz
is the test you must pass to receive credit for the course

Course Manual
contains all the material covered in this course which may be
printed out as a reference both for the course and in the future.
Note:
all the information in "Course Content" is also contained in "Course Manual" and vice versa.

Course Menu

This is located in the gray area on the left hand side of the screen and is visible on all other pages.

There are four items in the menu

Homepage
takes you back to the Course Homepage as described above.

Course Content
contains the online course material.
-
Quiz
is the test you must pass to receive credit for the course

Course Manual contains
all the material covered in this
course which may be printed out as a
reference both for the course and in
the future.

Course Content

Click on the icon for "Course Content." This
will open up a page containing the table of
contents for all the course material
-
Click on the link for the subsection you
wish to view from the Table of Contents.

Moving between pages
-
There are five (5) buttons in the upper left corner of the course content section. The first
three (3) are used to move between the pages. The
fourth and fifth ones are not used.
Will return you to the table of contents.
Will take you back to the previous page.
Will take you to the next page.
- To return to the "Course Homepage" click on "Homepage" from the gray "Course
Menu" on the left hand side of the screen.

Quiz
-
This is a 16 question quiz. You must get 12
questions (75%) correct to pass.

From the "Course Homepage" click on the icon
for "Quiz." This will bring you to the
"Quizzes and Surveys" page.

Click on the link for "Fire Safety and Hazard Communication Training Quiz."
-
Click on the "Begin Quiz" button. This will
bring up "Fire Safety and Hazard Communication Training Quiz" in a
new window.

Answer each question and click the "Save
answer" button.

Once you have answered all the questions and
save all of your answers click the "Finish"
button.
- Two dialogue boxes will appear asking if you
want to proceed. Click "OK" for both.
- To view your results click on the "View
Results" button.
- If you pass the quiz, a "Print Certification" link will appear on the gray "Course menu" on the left hand side of the screen. When you click on "Print Certification" a new window will pop up. Click print on your new browswer to print out your certificate.

Course Manual

All material covered in the "Course Content" section is in the "Course
Manual" section and vice
versa. The difference is that the "Course
Manual" is more easily printed out.

From the "Course Homepage" click on the icon for "Course
Manual." This will bring you to the
"Course Manual" page.

Complete the four steps that follow.

Click on the link for "Manual" at the
bottom of the page.
-
Click on the "Select all" button on the
following page.
-
Click on the "Finish compile" button on the
following page. This will open up
a new browser with all the course
information.

Click print on your new browser to print
out a manual.
