Columbia, MD – Howard County General Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine, (HCGH) is proud to announce that the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center (CMCRC) and its director, Leslie Rogers, were both recognized recently by Home Instead Senior Care for providing outstanding service to seniors in Howard County.
Leslie Rogers (center) and the Claudia Mayer
Cancer Resource Center were recognized by
Home Instead Senior Care’s Nick Konstant
and Pam Urnowey for outstanding service to
seniors in our county.
At the company’s sixth annual Presidential Service Awards ceremony, CMCRC received a $1,000 donation as the recognized nonprofit in Howard County. Rogers received a separate plaque honoring her for outstanding service to so many, especially seniors, in the Howard County community.
“It is our pleasure to honor the companies and organizations that really stand out in the crowd by providing exemplary service to the community,” said Nick Konstant, owner of the Home Instead Senior Care office serving Howard and Anne Arundel counties. “They should be recognized for going the extra mile when caring for our older adult population.”
An oncology social worker, Rogers has been practicing for 16 years, the past four at HCGH. She was singled out by her community peers to receive this award. CMCRC, located in the Medical Pavilion at Howard County, offers hope, help and support for men, women and children living and coping with cancer. The center’s knowledgeable staff helps navigate and connect patients to an array of community resources to assist with financial and other tangible needs such as transportation and care giving. Additionally, acupuncture and therapeutic massage is offered for patients and care givers. Individual, couples, and family counseling also is available, with a focus on cancer-related issues. Ongoing support groups are offered throughout the year.
