Dr. Philip Spevak is an associate professor of pediatrics and medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has special expertise in non-invasive imaging (echocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography) in the evaluation of congenital heart disease.  He is also knowledgeable in informatics and resource utilization in health care.

Dr. Spevak is director of the Center for Non-Invasive Imaging of Congenital and Acquired Heart Disease at Johns Hopkins.

After graduating from Williams College with a B.A., Dr. Spevak received a master’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin. He earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital and performed his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.  He subsequently received a MPH from the Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Dr. Spevak’s research interests include health policy, non-invasive cardiac imaging and health informatics.

He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Society for Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine. more
