Which is best for weight loss, a high carbohydrate diet or a high fat diet? Controversy swirls, but a study led by Kerry Stewart, a cardiovascular health expert at Johns Hopkins, suggests that not only do people who consume a high fat diet lose weight more quickly, they avoid some of the metabolic problems of consuming a lot of carbohydrates.
STEWART: If their overall profile is such that they’re losing weight that probably will be beneficial regardless of the fat. Now the flip side of the low fat diet when you eat more carbs is that that tends to raise insulin levels very quickly. And these constant rises and falls of insulin have an adverse effect on various physiological functions. :25
