A Survey of Influenza Vaccination Acceptance Among Healthcare Workers at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Out-Patient Center

A Survey of Influenza Vaccination Acceptance Among Healthcare Workers at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Out-Patient Center
PI: Trish M. Perl, M.D., M.Sc.
Sponsor: None

Attitudes, knowledge and beliefs regarding influenza and the vaccine have an affect on the willingness of healthcare workers to be vaccinated. Many patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings are susceptible to influenza, and it has been shown that increasing the vaccination rate among healthcare workers is the best way to prevent nosocomial transmission of influenza in healthcare settings. A survey will be used to help determine the best way to increase the influenza vaccination rate.

Surveys are being passed out throughout the hospital, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. The data will be analyzed and the results will be used to target an educational program designed to increase the vaccination rates.
