Advanced Practice Nurses

Your medical care will be managed by a team of physicians and Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs).  An APN is a registered nurse with a Master's Degree who specializes in cardiothoracic surgery as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Specialist. Your APN will communicate daily with your attending physician, house staff, social worker, anticoagulation coordinator, physical therapist, dietician, discharge planner, home care nurse, and the registered nurse responsible for your daily care. Your  APN is the key link in collaborating the health care team members to facilitate a smooth hospital stay.
