Study Long Title: Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Multicenter Acute Study of Clinical Effectiveness of Nesiritide in Subjects With Decompensated Heart Failure

Summary of Trial: The primary objective of the trial is to evaluate whether treatment with nesiritide improves patient outcomes or heart failure symptoms compared with placebo when each is administered in addition to other standard therapies in subjects with acute decompensated heart failure

Inclusions:

  • Age >18
  • Hospitalized with acute decompensated heart failure
  • Must be enrolled within 24 hours of having received IV diuretic

Exclusions:

  • Subjects at high risk to develop low blood pressure or have contraindications for vasodilators
  • Persistent uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • Acute coronary syndrome
  • Chronic obstructive lung disease
  • Anemia
