Our doctors’ approach to surgical treatment sets us apart and makes the Johns Hopkins Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service a nationally recognized treatment center for cancers of the female reproductive tract.
When first diagnosed with cancer, it is critical to consider a surgical approach, if possible. Our surgeons are pro-active in their treatment plans, returning to surgery as the primary choice in treatment if appropriate. Removing as much of a tumor as possible, along with any other distant growths can double a women’s chances of survival.
We make use of minimally invasive surgical procedures when appropriate, including the use of robotically assisted technologies for management of endometrial, cervical and ovarian cancers and masses.
Our doctors have available cutting edge technologies including:
- Robotic surgery
- Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy
