Changing Your Residency to Maryland
While not required by JHU, you may choose to change your residency to the state of Maryland. Please be advised that if you do one of the following you have 60 days to complete the rest of the requirements in order to establish residency.
Finding an Apartment
Students enrolled at JHU live all across the Greater Baltimore area. Where you live is a decision is completely up to you. A majority of students enjoy living in Charles Village (next to the JHU Homewood Campus), yet others live Downtown, Canton. Federal Hill, Mount Vernon, Fells Point, or outside of the city limits (Owings Mills, White Marsh, Towson, Ellicott City, Hanover, Columbia, etc). The best way to find an apartment in the area is to use a commercial apartment finder or talk to current students. You may also subscribe to our graduate student housing listserv. In addition, there is a housing website sponsored by JHU which has useful information on off-campus housing.
