Elizabeth W. Dzeng, MD, MPH, MPhil, MS has been awarded the 2014 Society of General Internal Medicine Founder’s Grant for her proposal “The Influence of Hospital Policies and Culture on Ethical DNR Decision Making”. The SGIM Founder’s Grant provides $10,000 support to junior investigators who exhibit significant potential for a successful research career and who needs a “jump start” to establish a strong research funding base. Dr. Dzeng will be awarded the grant on Saturday, April 26th, 2014 at the SGIM award presentations.
Dr. Dzeng’s research explores the effects of institutional policies and cultural norms on physicians’ understandings of autonomy in the context of the Do-Not-Resuscitate (DNR) order at the end of life. This project draws from sociological, bioethical, and clinical decision making perspectives.
Congratulations to Dr. Dzeng!
