GIM Fellow Tanjala Purnell, PhD, MPH, has been recognized for her work by the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland, the Baltimore Times reports. Her role as a volunteer at the 11th Annual Baltimore Kidney Walk scheduled for Sunday, May 5th was cited in a story that appeared in the newspaper on April 25th. The Kidney Walk and Tanjala’s research share the aim of increasing awareness of the serious nature of kidney disease. She is quoted extensively on her research to improve access to kidney transplantation for African Americans.

Registration will begin at 8:00 AM at the main gate of the Baltimore Zoo; the 1.6-mile walk through the Zoo will begin at 9:00 AM. You’ll be sure to see Dr. Purnell volunteering!
