GIM’s Stephen Sisson, MD, Associate and Philip A. Tumulty Professor of Medicine, has been named the Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Executive Director of Ambulatory Services. He will assume his new post on May 1st. In this position, Dr. Sisson will “provide executive leadership for The Johns Hopkins Hospital Outpatient Center and other ambulatory locations within the scope of the Joint Commission Accreditation (i.e., JHOC, Rubenstein Building, and the Moore Clinic).” The position encompasses administration of all ambulatory medicine operations, including safety, service, and quality improvement initiatives and assistance with Epic implementation.
Dr. Sisson will leave his position as Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of Medicine when he assumes his role as Executive Director of Ambulatory Services. Dr. Myron Weisfeldt, William Osler Professor of Medicine, and Chair and Director of the Department of Medicine remarked that “Steve is another institutional leader and champion coming from our Department. I know he will move patient care and clinical training forward for all of Hopkins in a major way.”
