Traveling for Care?
Whether you're crossing the country or the globe, we make it easy to access world-class care at Johns Hopkins.
GIM Professor Lawrence Appel, MD, MPH, known for his research on the role of nutrition in health, has been heard on recent mornings on WYPR on that radio station’s broadcasts of the Johns Hopkins Health Newsfeed. Dr. Appel spoke of the danger of salt in medications on Dec. 25th and 26th, and of the likely role of salt in holiday weight gain on Dec. 27th.
The Health Newsfeed items are each about a half-minute in length, and address the gamut of health matters that researchers are investigating at the JHU School of Medicine. GIM’s Dr. Redonda Miller is scheduled to speak about the effectiveness of vaccines on December 30th and GIM’s Dr. Michael Klag will address the search for an HIV vaccine on January 3rd. The Health Newsfeed web page allows users to search past topics back to 2007 in either script or sound versions, including contributions from earlier this year by GIM assistant professors Drs. Nisa Maruthur and Matthew DeCamp.
