GIM Professor and Director of the Evidence-based Practice Center Eric Bass, MD, MPH, has been chosen as President-Elect of the Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM). Dr. Bass will spend the first year of his three-year term as President-Elect, then preside for a year, and spend the third year as the outgoing president.
In the words of GIM Division Director Dr. Fred Brancati, "This is great news for him and for the GIM Division, but especially great news for SGIM, which will benefit from a leader who is respected for his research skills and clinical acumen, admired for his accomplishments and mentoring track record, and beloved for his warmth, collegiality, and generosity." Since the announcement of Dr. Bass's election, messages of congratulations and support have flooded in from around the country, many from former Fellows who trained in Hopkins GIM while Dr. Bass directed the GIM Fellowship Program.
Congratulation to Dr. Bass on this well-deserved victory! We know SGIM will be in good hands during his leadership.
