GIM’s Associate Professor Joseph Cofrancesco, Jr., MD, MPH, FACP, was one of five Department of Medicine faculty members to win a David M. Levine Excellence in Mentoring Award this year. The Awards were presented at the Department of Medicine’s Research Retreat on April 23, 2012. The award is named for GIM's own David Levine, MD, ScD, MPH, mentor to so many trainees and faculty members over the years.
When not busy receiving prizes, Dr. Cofrancesco is Director of GIM’s Clinician-Educator Mentoring and Scholarship Program, Director of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Institute for Excellence in Education, Medical Director of the Moore Clinic at Green Spring Station, and Director of the HIV Lipodystrophy and Metabolic Complications Clinic.
Among the other David M. Levine Excellence in Mentoring Award winners this year was Josef Coresh, MD, PhD, MHS, who holds a joint appointment in the GIM Division. Dr. Coresh is a professor in the departments of Epidemiology and of Biostatistics with a joint appointment in the Center for Global Health in the Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a core faculty member of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research. Further, Dr. Coresh is Director of the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Training Program and is Director of the Comstock Center for Public Health Research and Prevention.
Congratulations to both Dr. Cofrancesco and Dr. Coresh on this recognition of their mentoring excellence!
