Dr. Gail Daumit Granted K24 Award from NIMH
GIM Associate Professor Gail Daumit, MD, MHS, has just received an NIH Midcareer Investigator Award in Patient-Oriented Research (K24) from the National Institute of Mental Health. The five-year grant will allow Dr. Daumit to devote her efforts to intensive research in her specialized area of expertise, the physical health of mentally ill patients. Her K24 project is entitled "Developing and Translating Interventions to Decrease Mortality Disparities in Serious Mental Illness."
According to the NIH, the “Midcareer Investigator Award in Patient-Oriented Research (K24) award is designed to enable mid-career clinician scientists to [d]evote more time to augment their capabilities in Patient-Oriented Research; and [to] provide mentoring to new clinical investigators in the conduct of [Patient-Oriented Research]. . . . This award has formed an important part of the NIH initiative to attract and retain talented individuals to the challenges of patient-oriented research.”
Congratulations to Dr. Daumit on this major award!
