The “Hopkins GIM Family and Friends” team turned out in force at the Walk to Defeat ALS held at Arundel Mills Mall last Sunday, September 25th. The team’s honoree, GIM Division Chief Dr. Fred Brancati, was there as inspiration for a team that numbered some 50 walkers young and old, faculty, Fellows, staff and family members. All the GIM walkers wore team tee-shirts in the famous Hopkins GIM blue and white. The GIM team raised over $22,000 for ALS research—more than twice their goal of $10,000--and was named the event’s top Family Rookie Team, a distinction that won them a coveted Golden Shoe Award!
Accolades and many thanks go to Dr. Jeanne Clark and Dr. Geetanjali Chander for organizing the team and to all those who walked on Sunday and who contributed to the fund-raising. The GIM team's debut was a smashing success!
