July 1st brings the 2011 contingent of Fellows to the Division of GIM. This year six young physicians from around the country are beginning their fellowships here.
Lauren Block, MD, has just completed her residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital after receiving her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2008. Among Dr. Block's research interests are cardiovascular disease, HIV/AIDS, comparative effectiveness research and health policy. |
Anders Chen, MD, comes to GIM from the University of Washington where he has just completed his residency. Dr. Chen earned his MD degree at the University of California, San Francisco in 2008. His research will concentrate on health disparities and HIV/AIDS. |
Elizabeth Dzeng, MD, MPH, MS, MPhil, received her medical degree from Johns Hopkins SOM and her MPH degree from the Bloomberg School of Public Health. After further training at Kings College, Cambridge, she was most recently at Columbia University, where she spent her residency. Dr. Dzeng’s many research interests include epidemiology and health services research. |
Justin Lafreniere, MD, earned his doctorate at Tulane University in 2007 and completed his residency at the Navy Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. His research interests center on transitions of care and medical education. |
Samantha Pitts, MD, MPH, took both her medical training (1996) and residency (1999) at the University of California, San Francisco, and earned an MPH degree at the University of California, Berkeley in 2009. She has most recently been pursuing her career in Pennsylvania. Dr. Pitts' research interests include health disparities, epidemiology and chronic infectious diseases. |
Mona Siddiqui, MD, graduated from the Johns Hopkins SOM in 2004. She spent the first year of her residency at Howard University Hospital and the following two years at George Washington University Hospital. Dr. Siddiqui’s research interests include biostatistics, depression and mental illness, and outcomes research. |
