GIM congratulates former GIM Fellow Jeffrey Whittle, MD, MPH, who has recently been promoted to the rank of full professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He describes his present life in the following terms.
“I am pleased that I found my way back to my home town of Milwaukee in 2005, when I could still see Brett Farve in a Green Bay uniform.
“At the Medical College of Wisconsin I continue to have an active primary care practice and attend on inpatient wards. I teach all levels of medical students and residents, including (very) critical appraisal. My research focuses on improving patient self management skills, as well as my longstanding interest in racial disparities in cardiovascular disease care and outcomes. My research is currently funded by VA, AHRQ, and a large local foundation. I spend about 85% of my time on research, 30% on patient care and 5% on teaching and 10% on administration. “
That is a lot of percentage points for Dr. Whittle! No doubt the promotion was well deserved.
