Dr. Pauline Chen’s essay in the Doctor and Patient column on the New York Times web site on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, concerns image problems within the medical community related to primary care. She writes that the tide may be turning and cites discussions at an American Association of Medical Colleges Annual Meeting session as hopeful. Of the session, she wrote, "...unlike the image held by naysayers of primary care, the changes proposed and discussed make an innovative vision of primary care practice central to some of the most exciting solutions for the country’s critical health care problems."
