Title: Multi-site Trial Recruitment and Retention
Speaker: Lee Swartz, MBA, GIM Faculty Member

Lee Swartz is the Johns Hopkins coordinator of a multi-site study examining the long term health effects of a weight loss intervention in older, obese, type-2 diabetics. As a study coordinator at Johns Hopkins for over 20 years, she previously worked on the Research Coordinator Training Program and on variety of investigator initiated studies in Pediatrics and Epidemiology. Multi-site trials are very demanding and require careful documentation.

Title: Community-Based Participatory Research as a Tool to Maximize Recruitment and Retention of Linguistic Minorities in Health Promotion Research
Speaker: Haera Han, RN, PhD, Associate Professor, JHU School of Nursing

Dr. Han received her initial training in Seoul, Korea, and the University of Maryland and completed her post-doctoral training in community-based participatory research (CBPR) methods and program evaluation at The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Her interest area is to reduce health disparities by designing and evaluating innovative community outreach programs in cancer control and cardiovascular health promotion for traditionally underserved ethnic minorities—particularly Korean Americans.
