GIM Faculty member Felicia Hill-Briggs, PhD has been selected by the Fullwood Foundation, Inc. as a 2009 Valued Hours Awardee for her professional and community activities in diabetes prevention and care. She was honored at the 21st Annual Fullwood Benefit and Recognition Ceremony on January 10, 2009. The ceremony honors “individuals who have invested their time in humanitarian deeds that substantially improve the quality of life of the citizens of the State of Maryland.”  Past Fullwood Foundation awardees from Johns Hopkins include Levi Watkins, MD and Benjamin Carson, MD.

The Fullwood Foundation, which was founded by entrepreneur and humanitarian Harlow Fullwood, Jr., was established in 1988 with a twofold mission: to support educational initiatives designed to

Mr. Fullwood died prematurely from diabetes complications in 2007. Dr. Hill-Briggs describes the Fullwood Foundation and its founder as inspiration for continued efforts to improve the lives of people with diabetes both locally and nationally.
