Maryland Physician Shortage Looming

Maryland Physician Shortage Looming

A study was released this week about current and future physician shortages in Maryland. The study concludes, "It is a silent crisis but a real one:

Maryland has a serious shortage of clinical physicians to treat patients.

Even more alarming, Maryland's inadequate supply of practicing clinicians will grow in intensity over the next seven years. If this shortage is not addressed promptly, patient care could be compromised throughout the state."

The study was commissioned by the Maryland Hospital Association (MHA), with the support of MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society.
