Dance anthem 2007

GIM Selects New Dance Anthem

GIM put the nominations for its new dance anthem to a vote last Tuesday at the annual GIM Holiday Party. James Brown’s “I Feel Good!” was elected to replace last year’s selection, “I Will Survive.” The other nominated songs were “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now!” by McFadden and Whitehead, Kanye West’s “Stronger,” and Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust.”

Partygoers voted with cash for their favorite, and the competition raised $235 for the Health Freedom Walk. The walk is referred to as “A Path to Wellness”, a name bearing more than one meaning. The project encourages walking exercise and nutrition as a path to better health in the African American community; it also holds a “Health Freedom Celebration” in the form of walks along routes in Maryland that in the 19th century served as sections of the Underground Railway. Participants walk in honor of an abolitionist, a Quaker or an enslaved person who reached freedom by way of the Underground Railway.
