The imperative of the large demographic shift currently underway in Baltimore and in the country -- in particular the burgeoning population of older adults -- demands changes in the Johns Hopkins Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, along with its population-based, interdisciplinary research arm, the Center on Aging and Health, is leading the nation in determining how to best serve the unique health care needs of older adults.
To assist in this mission, the Division and the Center benefit from the philanthropic support of individuals. Current-use gifts to support new and on-going programs, and planned estate gifts help us to fund crucial clinical and research needs -- needs that often have no other sources of funding. Philanthropic support is typically directed to an individual physician or researcher or clinical program. Gifts made to the Director's Fund are allocated according to the most pressing priorities of the Division.
Philanthropic support provides seed money for research, helps to purchase equipment, and, perhaps most importantly, provides a greatly needed source of funding to enhance the Division's mission of teaching physicians, nurses, and other health care providers how to best care for older adults, as clinical education is most often uncompensated.
Your support is greatly appreciated and will have a profound impact on the work of the Division, which is disseminated throughout the state and the country. To make a gift or for additional information please contact:
