Medical Student Elective

Medical Student Electives

This elective provides experience on an inpatient rehabilitation service, housecall program, hip fracture service, and Program of All-Inclusive Care of the Elderly.  Time is also alotted for work in the outpatient Geriatric Medicine Primary Care Pactice and suspecialty clinics, including osteoporosis clinic, incontinence clinic, and the geriatric assessment clinic. 

Clinical electives are available to medical students who are attending either an LCME-approved school or schools with which Johns Hopkins has a formal affiliation.  Research experiences are offered on a limited basis to US and internationally trained medical students who submit appropriate application materials to the Registrar's office.

Transcripts and a letter of recommendation are required. Completed applications are forwarded to the department in which the student wishes to work. The registrar will notify the student of action taken and arrange for housing, visa, etc.
