Our educational mission is to train the future leaders of geriatric medicine and translate the latest knowledge in geriatric medicine and gerontology into practice.
The educational programs of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology span the depth and breadth of clinical and research activities of its acclaimed faculty. Whether you are a student, house officer, faculty member, or health care provider, at this, or another institution, the Division offers an educational program that is likely to interest you. These include opportunities to work with expert geriatricians and health care teams practicing in the full continuum of clinical services for older adults or to explore advances in the latest research in molecular biology, clinical outcomes, epidemiology, population-based research, and health services research and innovative research in education. The Division also provides educational programs for practicing physicians, nurses, and other health care providers in the community.
In addition to a rich educational environment, the Division is committed to increasing the diversity of leaders and health care providers in clinical geriatrics, research, health care policy, administration and education. For instance, our innovative Summer Scholars Program is designed to introduce medical students from under represented minority groups to the excitement of a career in geriatric medicine and gerontology. Already there are participants achieving national recognition for research projects they have performed as Summer Scholars and are moving into advanced training opportunities in the field of geriatrics and gerontology.
