(Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Biochemical Genetics)

Short Course in Medical and Experimental Mammalian Genetics (Jackson Lab, Bar Harbor, ME).  This well-known two-week long course directed by Drs. McKusick and Valle focuses on research aspects of human and mouse genetics.  Clinical Molecular, Biochemical and Cytogenetics Fellows are expected to attend this course at the end of their first or second year.

Molecular Mechanisms.  This seminar graduate level research course consists of 10-12 sessions.  This is a mandatory course for the Clinical Genetic Fellow, which he/she attends in the first or second year of training.  Individual students present one or more papers in a journal club format with group discussion.  Each session focuses on a particular part of the molecular mechanism of disease, such as: haplo-insufficiency, gain of function, imprinting, cancer, etc.

Advanced Topics in Human Genetics:  This graduate level research-oriented introduction to principles of humangenetics with emphasis on research papers, techniques and strategies, consists of 28-30, 75-105 minute sessions.
