The first year of the program is the same as the intern year for internal medicine residents. The next three years each include six months of training in internal medicine and six months in genetics. The final year of training focuses entirely in genetic research. Applicants interested in this combined training pathway must submit their application through ERAS for the Department of Internal Medicine AND submit a separate application on this site. You will be contacted by Adel Gilbert, MS, CGC Genetic Medicine Education Coordinator for the Institute of Genetic Medicine, to arrange special genetic interview, if you are offered an interview in Internal Medicine. Additional information about the Board requirements for this combined training program are available at The American Board of Internal Medicine website. |
