The GCRC Nutrition Staff

Nutrition Educational Material | Anthropometrics & Calculations

The GCRC can provide Research Nutrition Services for your research protocol. This service has two primary roles: to assure that the nutritional requirements of research protocols are met, and to encourage use of our nutritionists’ expertise in planning and executing protocols.

So what are the specific services Research Nutrition can provide? Our nutritionists can do nutritional assessments by performing height, weight, and anthropometric measurements, 3-day food records and 24 hr. recalls. The nutritionists calculate and record nutrient intake from food, formulas and parenteral solutions. The nutritionists are involved in the management of protocol patients when they are admitted into the hospital in the critical care unit. Patients receive nutritional counseling based on protocol and/or outcome of the nutritional assessment. The nutritionists coordinate protocol diets with the patients, nursing and nutrition staffs of the GCRC.
