All applications to the GCRC must be approved by both an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the GCRC
Advisory Committee (GAC) after internal scientific review by the Protocol Review Sub-Committee (PRS).
Review dates and deadlines for submission are available on each of the links below. All applications,
must be received by 5:00 pm on the deadline date.
Once your application is submitted, it will be pre-reviewed. You will be sent an e-mail detailing the changes
necessary and/or questions to be addressed so that your study can be forwarded to the full protocol review committee to
begin the Protocol Review Process.
PLEASE NOTE: There are now two ways to submit an application to the GCRC.
First method: Apply to the JHM IRB using eIRB.
If you apply to the JHM IRBs using their electronic system (eIRB),
you can use your IRB application to start your GCRC Application.
- Submit an IRB application via eIRB. When completing your application, you MUST answer "Yes" to
question 2.0 "Will you apply to the Bayview GCRC or JHH GCRC (includes NBRU) for funding or use of facilities?"
- After you have submitted your eIRB application, e-mail gcrc@jhmi.edu to let us know that you plan to submit a GCRC application.
We will then pull much of your application information from your eIRB application, and e-mail you to let you know that your application has been started.
- Log on to GCRCOnline. You will find your new application under
the "My Protocols" menu option. Review the uploaded information and follow the instructions online to complete and submit your application.
Second method: Use GCRCOnline to complete an application.
Investigators who do not use the eIRB system can still use GCRCOnline to apply to the GCRC.
- Log on to GCRCOnline. Choose the menu option "My Protocols", and click on the "Add a New Application" button.
- Follow the instructions online to complete your application, and upload your supporting documentation.
- You may save your work at any time as your work on your application.
- The people you designate as Co-Investigators or Study Coordinators on your application will also have access to your draft application.
That way, members of your study team can also work on your application.
- Finally, you may have a Co-Investigator or Study Coordinator fill out a GCRC Application on
your behalf through GCRCOnline.
- When you've completed the application, the system will allow you to submit it to the GCRC and begin the review process.
