Patient Financial Services Department Description
Patient Financial Services is a department within Johns Hopkins Health System Finance. The primary responsibilities of the department include billing, collections, revenue control and support for the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and Howard County General Hospital. The department supports reserve modeling for multiple entities and provides support or consulting services for JHHS and JHM projects related to billing and collections. More specifically, the department is organized as follows:
Billing and Financial Reporting including the following functions:
- Budgeting/Financial Analysis
- AR Reporting
- JHHS Reserve Modeling and Validation
- Collection Rate Reporting
- Hospital Third Party Billing and Collections
- Blue Cross
- Medicare
- Medicaid & MCO’s

Non-Acute Services and Revenue Control including the following functions:
- Skilled Nursing Facility
- Chronic Care
- Community Psychiatry
