Epic will consolidate patient medical records into a single unified system. As the most visible and trusted members of the patient care team, nurses will have access to up-to-date records, complete with notes from everyone involved in the patient’s care. With Epic and MyChart—the Epic patient portal—nurses and nurse educators will have new tools to allow for better coordination among the clinical care team and to treat patients as partners in their own care.
The Nursing and Allied Health Council is a core part of the Epic project governance. The council includes more than 150 nursing and allied health professionals from across Johns Hopkins Medicine. They meet regularly to address and guide important issues affecting the nursing and allied health professionals.
